Artist in Residence at Kebbel Villa | Oberpfälzer Künstlerhaus
Ich freue mich sehr, mein neues Projekt “A Sign in the Space” während meiner Residency in der Kebbel Villa (Oberpfälzer Künstlerhaus) weiterentwickeln zu dürfen. Das Projekt hinterfragt, was ein Punkt als räumliche Referenz ist. Es nutzt unterschiedliche Perspektiven als Ausgangspunkt, von Wissenschaft über Philosophie bis Literatur, um eine Wunderkammer zur fiktiven Narrativen über die Bedeutung des Punktes im Raum zu produzieren.

I am very pleased to be able to further develop my new project “A Sign in the Space” during my residency at the Kebbel Villa (Oberpfälzer Künstlerhaus). The project questions what a point is as a spatial reference. It uses different perspectives as starting points—from science to philosophy to literature—to produce a Wunderkammer of fictional narratives about the meaning of the point in space.

Strategies to Overcome Automatic Thinking
Strategies to Overcome Automatic Thinking zeigt Textfragmente auf Werbeplakaten in 13 Städten des Ruhrgebiets, zu sehen von November bis 18. Dezember. Die Arbeiten hinterfragen, wie wir urbanen Raum wahrnehmen – nicht nur als Ort, sondern als dynamisches Netzwerk von Beziehungen und Erfahrungen. Dabei wird das Konzept der Grenze als konstitutives Element in der Bildung von Individuum und Gesellschaft untersucht – sowohl in alltäglichen subjektiven Erfahrungen als auch in seiner physischen Dimension thematisiert.
Gefördert von der Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach-Stiftung im Rahmen von 150 Jahre Villa Hügel – 150 Projekte für das Ruhrgebiet. Das Projekt mündet in einer Publikation mit der Dokumentation der Billboards von Jens Sundheim sowie Texten von Professor James Scott und Professorin Anna Pastuszka, die eigens für diese Publikation entstanden sind.
Strategies to Overcome Automatic Thinking presents text fragments as billboards across 13 cities in the Ruhr Area, on view from November to 18 December. The works question how we perceive urban space — not merely as a location, but as a dynamic network of relationships and experiences. It examines borders as a constitutive element in the formation of both the individual and society, addressing everyday subjective experiences as well as the physical dimension of borders.
Kindly funded by Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach Stiftung as part of 150 Jahre Villa Hügel – 150 Projekte für das Ruhrgebiet. The project culminates in a publication with Fotos of the billboards by Jens Sundheim and Texts by Professor James Scott and Professor Anna Pastuszka that were specifically written for this occasion.
Among Other Things – Zeichnung als erweiterte Praxis
Diese Ausstellung nimmt Zeichnung als Ausgangspunkt, jedoch nicht im traditionellen Sinn. Gezeigt werden Werke, die das Verständnis von Zeichnung erweitern – von klassischen Zeichnungen bis hin zu skulpturalen, installativen und performativen Arbeiten. Zeichnung wird hier als offenes, konzeptuelles Feld verstanden, das sich über Linie, Geste, Spur und Material hinaus in Raum und Bewegung erstreckt. Der Titel „Among Other Things“ verweist auf Zeichnung als Teil eines größeren Ganzen – als Prozess, Struktur, Handlung und Denkwerkzeug. Die Ausstellung lädt dazu ein, gewohnte Grenzen zu hinterfragen und Zeichnung als dynamische, medienübergreifende Sprache zu entdecken.

Among other Things – Drawing as Expanded Practice
This exhibition takes drawing as its starting point—but not in the traditional sense. It presents works that expand the idea of drawing, from classical approaches to sculptural, installative, and performative forms. Here, drawing is understood as an open, conceptual field extending into space and movement. The title Among Other Things refers to drawing as part of a larger whole—process, structure, action, and tool for thought. The exhibition invites viewers to question boundaries and explore drawing as a dynamic, cross-media language.

Förderfonds Interkultur Ruhr
Mit dem Projekt “Druck für Demokratie” habe ich dieses Jahr die Förderfonds Interkultur Ruhr erhalten. Das Projekt umfasst Druckworkshops, die sich mit dem Thema Demokratie beschäftigen, mit einer Gruppe von 12 Teilnehmenden. Durch das Erstellen von Bildern, das Sammeln von Inspirationsmaterial und das Erlernen von Drucktechniken werden die Teilnehmenden in Diskussionen eingebunden, um auf Augenhöhe Erfahrungen und Meinungen zum Thema zu teilen.
Herzlichen Dank an den Regionalverband Ruhr für die wunderbare Förderung und Unterstützung sowie an das Künstlerhaus Dortmund für die stets tolle Kooperation. Last but not least ein großes Dankeschön an alle Kanäle, die bei der Bewerbung dieses Projekts geholfen haben.

With my project “Druck für Demokratie”, I was awarded this year’s Interkultur Ruhr funding. The project consists of printmaking workshops that explore the theme of democracy. By creating images, collecting inspiration materials, and learning printing techniques, participants are invited into discussions where they can share experiences and opinions on democracy.

Unter dem Titel „KLEINKLEIN“ zeigt der Westdeutsche Künstlerbund (WKB) seine Übersichtsausstellung 2025 gleich an zwei Standorten – im Märkischen Museum Witten und im Stadtmuseum Hattingen. Zentrales Konzept der Ausstellung ist das übersichtliche Format: Alle ausgestellten Werke dürfen die maximale Größe von 50 x 50 x 50 cm nicht überschreiten. Inhaltlich gibt es keinerlei thematische Vorgaben – das erlaubt eine große Bandbreite an künstlerischen Ausdrucksformen und Techniken.
Ziel der Ausstellung ist es, dem Publikum die Bandbreite künstlerischer Produktion in NRW vorzustellen. Sie bietet zudem eine leicht zugängliche und inhaltlich vielseitige Begegnung mit Gegenwartskunst. Die heterogene Präsentation lädt zum genauen Hinschauen, Vergleichen und Entdecken ein.

Under the title “KleinKlein”, the Westdeutscher Künstlerbund (WKB) will present its 2025 group exhibition at two locations simultaneously – the Märkisches Museum Witten and the Stadtmuseum Hattingen. The central concept of the exhibition is the compact format: all exhibited works must not exceed the maximum size of 50 x 50 x 50 cm. There are no thematic constraints – allowing for a wide range of artistic expressions and techniques.
The aim of the exhibition is to showcase the diversity of artistic production in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) to the public. It also offers an accessible and content-rich encounter with contemporary art. The heterogeneous presentation invites visitors to observe closely, compare, and discover.
